This part-time course is designed to facilitate students in the preparation of a high quality portfolio; one which is of a standard to gain entry into third level colleges within Ireland & the UK. Every effort will be made by the tutors to assist students in the preparation of portfolios for 2015 art college submission deadlines. Students on this course will not only create a personal portfolio but will also formulate a wide range of skills essential to their eventual successful completion of an art college degree course. The course is suitable for both mature and post Leaving Certificate students. Students will require high levels of personal commitment to the course and their work. Self-motivation is essential. Throughout the course the staff will boost the student’s creativity, technical knowledge, self-confidence & communication skills, whilst impressing upon them the necessity of extremely high levels of self-discipline & creativity needed to sustain a career in the world of art, craft or design. Practical and conceptual approaches to creativity will be encouraged through a range of problem solving tasks. Students will be encouraged to work in the required disciplines & also in challenging creative cross-disciplinary projects. Students will be encouraged to develop their own ideas through research and work on personal projects. The course is suitable for both mature and post Leaving Certificate students.
