Autumn Leaves Colour Photography Workshop Saturday 26th October 10am -4pm
Kells Bay Garden is this year’s location of the autumn leaf colour photography workshop. Come for a guided tour through this wonderful park and learn how to take powerful photos with your camera and tripod of trees, plants, leaves and foliage, at the change of colours and the beginning of decay. Exotic plants, rivers, brooks and the scenery of Kells are a perfect place for great photos. A lunch break at the coffee shop is available. Meeting point Cahersiveen church car park, 9.30am. Willow Basket-Making (beginners & intermediate) Friday 8th & Saturday 9th November 10.00am – 4.00pm
Beginners will make a small traditional basket (a skibb) used for straining potatoes or a conical hanging basket (a pookeen). If you are already experienced in basket-making & would like to make a flower basket or vegetable trug please contact the centre to establish what materials are required. In this workshop you will learn how to improve the quality of your digital photos by cropping, resizing, changing the colours or change them from colour to black & white and removing elements of a photo and repair.

Sugar Craft Taster Workshop Saturday 9th November 10am – 3.30pm
Suitable for beginners & intermediate levels. Make a birthday cake extra special by learning a few simple techniques. Coat your cake & cake board in fondant icing, add a few strategic flowers & a pretty ribbon and it’s transformed into a professional work of art. During the class we aim to make simple fantasy flowers and leaves. Learn the techniques of covering, smoothing and texturing. We will make a crimping
board that will show off what can be achieved by a few simple tools. Hands-on class with demonstrations. You will leave with a decorated cake or cake dummy and lots of inspiration to have fun at home and learn more of this wonderful craft. Fee: €40 (1 day). Kay O’Connor
Adobe Lightroom 4 for Digital Photographers ‘The Photography Book Making Workshop’– Intermediate 2nd & 3rd November 10am – 4pm
Lightroom 4 offers a very good module to create photography books. In this workshop you will learn how to use the right settings and design options on the first day to enable you to use photos and text in your ‘book’. The second day will take place in a printer’s studio; here you will watch first-hand the printing of a sample book. Basic experience in using Adobe Lightroom required for this workshop. Principles & Practice of Music Recording Saturday 9th November 10am – 5pm
This workshop will explain the fundamental aspects of sound recording and allow the students to see how a recording can be made from beginning to end. On finishing the workshop students should have an understanding of how the recording process works and the knowledge to make their own recordings using their computer as their main operating tool. We will explore how the computer has come to dominate the process at every stage and how we might use this to our advantage. The course will be over one day, split into three sessions of approximately two hours each covering recording principles, in the first session, recording practice as a practical demonstration in the second session and finishing the recording through mixing and mastering in the final session. Since the beginning of time people have gathered together in circles celebrating life. The drum, one of the primary tools found in all cultures, has been used for many purposes. The benefits of drumming are multi-fold. It creates a powerful sense of unity and focus for a group, leaving you relaxed and more receptive.
