Women’s Choir ‘SING INTO SUMMER’ Wednesday evenings 7 – 9pm, May 29th &  June 5th -26th & 3rd July

Join choral conductor Anne McIntyre & friends – old & new, for six sessions of instruction in choral music.
Vocal technique, part-singing and basic sight-singing skills will be reinforced as we experience the joy of singing beautiful choral repertoire. Fee: €55 (6 weeks).
Anne is a retired choral teacher/conductor from Edmonton, Canada. In addition to producing award winning choirs within Edmonton Public Schools [1972 -1998],
she was the founder/conductor of Edmonton Children’s Choir. Anne received an Excellence in Teaching Award for school music and the Con Spirito Award for her

‘Marine Life in Ireland‘ Wednesday 26th June, 10am – 5pm.
Do you ever go to the beach and wonder what you are looking at? Are your kids collecting items from the beach and you don’t know what they are?
Would you like to be more environmentally aware? If the answer is yes, then this workshop is for you! Discover a whole new ecosystem with marine
biologist Lucy Hunt MSc.  Lucy has worked on marine research and awareness projects for over five years in different countries and loves coming

Principles & Practice of Live Music Recording NEW DATE Saturday 23rd March, 10am – 5.00pm
This workshop will explain the fundamental aspects of sound recording and allow the students to see how a recording can be made from beginning to end. On finishing the workshop students should have an understanding of how the recording process works and the knowledge to make their own recordings using their computer as their main operating tool. The focus of this workshop will be on live recording. We will explore how the computer has come to dominate the process at every stage and how we might use this to our advantage. The course will be over one day, split into three sessions of approximately two hours each covering recording principles, in the first session, recording practice as a practical demonstration in the second session and finishing the recording through mixing and mastering in the final session. Adobe Lightroom 4 for Digital Photographers ‘The Photography Book making workshop’– Intermediate Friday 22nd & Saturday 23rd March, 10.00am – 4.30pm
Lightroom 4 offers a very good module to create photography books. In this workshop you will learn how to use the right settings and design options on the first day to enable you to use photos and text in your ‘book’. The second day will take place in a printers, here you will watch first-hand the printing of a sample book. Basic experience in using Adobe Lightroom required for this workshop. SUGAR CRAFT TASTER WORKSHOP  ‘Learn how to decorate a birthday cake’ using simple techniques Tuesday 16th April, 2.00 – 6pm NEW DATE
Make a birthday cake extra special by learning a few simple techniques. Coat your cake  and cake board in fondant icing, add a few strategic flowers and a pretty ribbon and its transformed into a professional work of art. During the class we aim to make  simple fantasy flowers and leaves. Learn the techniques of covering smoothing and texturing, we will make a crimping board that will show off what can be achieved by a few simple tools. The class is very much hands on with demonstrations, you will leave with a decorated cake or cake dummy and lots of inspiration to have fun at home and learn more of this wonderful craft. Guided Photo Walk to Hogs Head Saturday 20th April, 11.00am – 4.00pm
A photo walk to one of Kerry´s most remote places just a few miles outside Waterville. Hogs Head offers fantastic views over Ballinskelligs & Derrynane Bay. Scarriff and Deenish Island are just a stone throw away. The steep coastline and the view to the Skellig Rock makes this place a heaven for great landscape photos. Good walking boots, weather clothing and if available a tripod is advised. Fee: €40 (1 day). Michael Herrmann

Willow Basket-Making (beginners & intermediate) Friday & Saturday 22nd & 23rd March or 12th & 13th April TBC, 10.00am – 4.00pm
Beginners will make a small traditional basket (a skibb) used for straining potatoes or a conical hanging basket (a pookeen). If you are already experienced in basket-making & would like to make a flower basket or vegetable trug please contact the centre to establish what materials are required. Fee: €75 not including materials (2 days). Limited spaces available. Martin O’Flynn

‘Seaweed Vegetable’ Foreshore Walk & Cooking Demonstration Saturday 27th April 10.00am – 3.00pm
Learn how to identify, harvest and prepare many of the common seaweeds found on our shores. A display of various sea plants with an explanation of where on the shoreline to find them will be followed by a foreshore walk & talk at Ballinskelligs. On returning to Tech Amergin there will be a tasting of various foodstuffs made with sea plants – soup, bread, cheese pickles etc. A demonstration will follow with basic tips on storing, preparing and cooking with sea vegetables and some basic foodstuffs will be prepared. Fee: €50 including 10 course lunch & complimentary seaweed bath gift pack (1 day). John Fitzgerald

Guided Photo Walk to Church Island, Waterville Lake Saturday 11th May 11am – 4pm
Visit the heritage site of Church Island at Lough Currane with its church ruin, ancient graves and hut buildings surrounded by wild flowers and the scenery of South Kerry. A very rare opportunity to see this wonderful place, take photos and get advice on camera settings and learn about the local history at the same time. Fee: €45 (1 day). Michael Herrmann
