Equal Skills

EqualSkills is specially developed to cater for those with no experience whatsoever of computers and the Internet.
EqualSkills helps to remove the fear of using a computer for complete novices by using a simple, non-threatening approach to educating individuals in the basic skills of using a computer, email and the Internet.

The e-Citizen certification programme is designed to be as simple and straightforward as possible. Candidates generally work in an instructor-led classroom environment.  The instructor follows the e-Citizen syllabus using the e-Citizen syllabus guide, which requires candidates to practice core tasks that are designed to give practical experience of using the fundamental elements of the internet.

The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is the world’s most successful IT skills certificationprogramme. To date, 10 million people have undertaken the ECDL programme in more than 60 countries worldwide. In Ireland, ECDL is administered by ICS Skills (The skills and certification division of the Irish Computer Society).

Outside of Europe the programme is known as the International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL), attesting to its phenomenal world-wide recognition and growth.

The ECDL establishes a standard for everyone who uses a computer in either a professional or personal capacity. It is a certificate that verifies competence in computer use, making the holder readily mobile within Ireland and internationally. Employers and job seekers all agree on the importance of this standard definition of practical competence in Information Technology.

In order to achieve the ECDL certification, individuals must pass a test for each of the 7 modules. ECDLModule 1 is a theoretical test of computing knowledge at a general level, while modules 2-7 are predominantly practical skills tests.

The ECDL consists of three main components – a syllabus, a skills card and a question test base, all leading to the European Computer Driving Licence.

ECDL Start is also available for students who pass any four modules of the ECDL programme.

ECDL Advanced Programme has the same international acclaim as the core level ECDL. It lays out a clear progression from the skills of the core level, so that candidates can plan further learning with a definite goal in mind and addresses the needs of the more sophisticated computer user in today’s society.

ECDL Advanced is a suite of certifications: Advanced Word ProcessingAdvanced Spreadsheets, Advanced Databases & Advanced Presentations.

ECDL CAD (Computer Aided Design) ‘Drawing & Design through 2D’

ECDL CAD Specialist is the new independent, international standard for core skills in two-dimensional computer aided design (2D CAD). Aimed at students who are commencing study in fields related to the architectural,  engineering (civil, mechanical & electricial) and construction sectors, ECDL CAD allows them to certify their 2D CAD skills to an independent international standard.
It is also suited to those who may already work in these sectors in a non-technical capacity and who wish to acquire or certify their 2D CAD skills.

ECDL Web Editing

ECDL WebEditing is a new certification designed to give you the basic skills required to design and create a simple web site.
ECDL WebEditing has been specifically developed for anyone who wants to acquire the skills to create a simple web site, without having to commit to the time and expense of a professional-level web design programme.

ECDL WebEditing is an ideal certification for students, small businesses, community groups and individuals who need to create personal web sites. By explaining the basics and cutting through the jargon of web site design, ECDL WebEditing gives you the skills you need to get started.

This programme offers candidates the opportunity to acquire an understanding of key web publishing concepts and the core skills required to design, create and maintain a static website, without having to commit time and valuable resources to a professional-level web design programme.
